Health, wellness and fitness has always been my passion and lifelong obsession. I continue to pride myself with always running in front of the curve and living on the bleeding edge. I never met a box that I ever wanted to stay in. Living in the now, observing coming trends and grabbing those that actually stick has always been my forte. I love looking across the horizon and watching the storms brew, before the rain hits. As time has marched on my health obsession shifted to longevity applications that could prevent my youth from slipping away. This has given me a glimpse into staying forever sexy, by living fast and hacking time. I knew I had to run harder, faster and with far more precision. The universe stepped up to the plate for me and threw me into a new world that moved FAST and would HACK everything I thought I knew about fitness and food.
Staying sexy FOREVER, aging well, stretching longevity and lifelong health, matters to me far more today than I could have ever predicted. The focus of all I do has shifted into a new field of study capable of supporting my growing desire for a new wellness model that would assure I could age with grace. When I look back at my nursing days and remember the lifeless minds and distorted bodies filling hospitals and nursing facilities, I knew there must be a new way to move forward, as I saw no hope in what laid behind me.
Then I entered the world of Biohacking and Intermittent fasting. As I dove into this new world my mind exploded, my education was challenged, and I had to throw away everything I thought I knew about working out and feeding myself. First were the rolling WTF’s. Then it was just time to step-up to the new challenge. I saw something here and my gut said “run with it!” My heart skips and my mind goes into overdrive when something new intrigues me. I dive in as if it were a massive pool of ice-cream in front of a starving toddler. “Bring-it” was all I could think. My brain was incapable of taking it in fast enough to satiate my hunger. I have taught martial arts, yoga, massage, pilates, cross-fit…shall I go on? You get the idea. Yes, indeed I thought I was a fitness expert… Oh how wrong I was!
We live in the most amazing time in history. I am sure every generation has stated this before, but this is where WE live and for us this is our reality. When we consider the decades of medical research, technological advances, human wearables and the computing ability to apply and use proven data in real time… it is indeed very remarkable! At the rate Technology/AI/Human Wearables, are moving we can’t even begin to predict what advances will pop-up in the next 10 years. A new healthy aging model is here, and the potential is huge. All I know is I plan on being ready for every unique longevity strategy I can get my hands on. For those wishing to push the boundaries of longevity possibilities, 120 is the new frontier. It makes sense that science would eventually get a little DIY and enter a few homes. Social influencers, bloggers and the Do-It-Yourself movement we see all around us was bound to wake up the disruptive NERD in many. Quite a few of us hate going to the doctor, and even the gym for that matter. We love being part of the generation that takes matters into it’s own hands. Today biohacking enters the realm of esoteric practices that turn to ancestral traditions and rethink how generations before us just might have lived.
Kill or be Killed, has shifted from wild animals to the current day to day wild business scene. The fight or flight responses still remain the same. Biohacking brings to the surface just how unprepared we are for WILD times. The 9-5, the hour at the gym, structured medical care, the packed schedules and the everyday struggle to fit in made us every bit as industrialized as the caged cows and un-pastured chickens that we damn well know better than to eat. The application of decades of mainstream fitness and marketing driven products have left so many with an end of life that is nothing short of PURE HELL. An entire medical community was built to address all the detrimental effects of poor physical movement and improper feeding. Biohacking shows us a new fitness model that creates resiliency, a toughness and a self-reliant human being. I want to be Hard to Kill, Don’t YOU!!?!!
For decades we saw so many flock to gyms and studios of varying activities. Many believed fitness belonged in those places, often spending the rest of their day in a sedentary lifestyle. Fitness never embedded itself in their lives, only in a time slot on their calendars. As a result, many sedentary people truly believed they were active, when in reality they were not.
Functional fitness is at the center of all that a biohacker does. If it does not make me more resilient, stronger, faster and better able to bounce back from day to day living…I don’t waste my time. Time is something we can never recover, when it is gone = game over. Scientist now see 120 as the moon shot of the human lifespan threshold. With this new knowing, time shifts dramatically. Life can be lived easy and cushy with a slow and steady decline through death by a million cuts, or we can lean in and do those things that just suck. Brene’ Brown calls it “Embracing the Suck.” Human excellence does not happen by accident. That shit takes work, and only you can do it!! Biohacking brings out your WILD side and challenges who you think you are!
Biohacking taps into biological functions that created resiliency in the human race. We did not evolve through wild lives. Our ancestors fought for their lives every day. Convenience did not exist, food was not plentiful and the possibility of dying from a simple scratch was real. And now, through a conscious re-wilding we get back those human functions that then kept us alive and now make us thrive.
When looking for your own ancestral ways, all you have to do is look to your childhood. What were you able to do when you were younger? How did you move, how active of a life did you organically live? Once you take a trip back in time you can then ask yourself: why don’t I move like that anymore? This was my starting point and my time traveling moment. As a little girl I was SUPER active, rambunctious, mischievous and rarely sat still. Running, jumping, hopping, skipping, dancing, singing, throwing, catching, sprinting, climbing and falling were day-to-day activities for me. My biohacking journey is all about getting back to these organic activities that once came so naturally to my body.
We now know that all we have been fed about the condition and action of growing old is pure and simple BS. Sure if you do not engage and just let yourself go passively then, yes aging will indeed be a bitch. However, today we know better. Just as health is a choice, so too is how we age. How you get to the end is completely up to you. Biohacking is exploring a new future we can all look forward to.

The Fast Life:
Ayurveda has always been clear on the role food plays in the human system. This is why Indian food taste so unique, it’s nothing short of a spoonful of medicine. When to eat was always part of the Ayurvedic food conversation. NO sun in the sky, NO food in the mouth. This is a basic training for all new students. The modern conversation is far from new, science just got involved and gave us license to safely skip meals. In this day and age we tend to look sideways at ancestral ways until someone with letters behind their name gives it their nod.
Intermittent fasting looks beyond what we should eat and looks more toward when we should eat. Initially, closing the window of eating (or feasting) time is far more important than what you actually consume during that time. As you progress the food within that window will shift and positive changes happen organically. The concept of intermittent fasting is to keep the body in repair mode as long as possible, digestion hampers this process. This is why the 16:8 (16 hours fasting with 8 hours feasting) method is the most popular and accessible IF protocol.
As you enter the fast life you will quickly notice the conversation shift from physical health to cognitive health. Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s left many athletes, such as myself, far more concerned with long-term brain-ability over maintaining a killer bod. Luckily, I do not have to choose! IF lets you focus on the end game and resets the body in the process. When paired with Biohacking - the results are monumental. Before Covid - home holistic practices were often considered quackery. Self-diagnosis was laughable, and self-care was brushed off. We were all programed to look to physicians as the only option to care for our health, after all how could we possibly know what is best for ourselves? In comes COVID and the government stepped in and sent us all home to do just that. What an amazing concept. For the first time in modern history, we were given the license to care for ourselves. The ramifications of this will be massive and felt for decades to come. I can’t wait to see how so many will step up and expand home health innovations.

We saw it with fitness, then diet and now it’s time that we move past passive aging to take a proactive approach to long-term wellness, while pushing the boundaries of longevity possibilities.
